The AWS x Exabytes “Digital Manufacturing BluePrint: A Cloud-First Approach to IR 4.0 Adoption” was held in 2 states across 2 days at Kuala Lumpur (KL Hilton) and Penang Island (Penang Spice Convention Center) on 25th May and 27th May respectively.
Speaker Highlights
The conference kicked off with a welcome note from Laurence Si, GM for AWS Malaysia reflecting on AWS Malaysia’s journey since its inception and also the company’s plans for the future specifically in Malaysia, reassuring the audience of AWS continuous investment in supporting the growth Malaysian businesses. Laurence talked about AWS’ unique positioning and offering to the market specifically referencing our unique builder mindset.
Eric Foo, Executive VP from Exabytes took the stage to talk how the Industrial Revolution evolved from its inception to its latest adoption stage. Key Points from Eric’s keynote was on how People, Processes and Technology are the building blocks for Digitalisation, Digitisation and Digital Transformation. Eric shared Exabytes 21 years in Malaysia and how their base grew as their brand continue to grow and diversify to serve more communities throughout the years.
Dato’ Seri Lee Kah Choon, Special Investment Advisor to Chief Minister of Penang took the audience on a journey through Penang’s 50 years in Industrialisation by sharing Penang’s Industry Transformation Journey in the past 50 years and recent developments/investments in Penang which includes 2021 highlights such as 111 manufacturing projects and 12k jobs created. He also shared how Penang’s strong E&E Foundation has enabled IR 4.0 Solution Providers & Adopters with special highlighted success stories in Penang.
Joey Tan, AWS ASEAN Pursuits Lead Digital Native Business, spent some time to lead the audience through the Amazon’s story in connect its end to end supply chain through technology. Joey talked about how AI and Machine Learning helped Amazon deliver billions of packages per year using advanced forecasting capabilities and how Amazon serve customers at massive scale by automating our supply chain.
Victor Marz, SAP Sales Specialist and Whye Loong, SAP Solution Architect gave a view of why customers chose AWS as the Cloud Platform of choice for their SAP workload. They shared specific examples of AWS customers get the best security and performance for their SAP landscapes backed by a robust partner ecosystem to support local and global enterprises as well as the savings expected by moving SAP to the cloud.
Panelist of 4 speakers, Eric Foo (Exabytes), Victor Marz (SAP Sales Specialist, AWS), Matthew Khaw (Partner Sales), Joey Tan (AWS Asean Pursuits Lead), Gopal (CEO of Olive Technologies) to a discussion on challenges and opportunities in Digital Manufacturing. Key discussion areas include practical steps of turning digital transformation projects into a reality, typical barriers of digital and cloud adoption and re-emphasised key building blocks to achieve this, examples IOT Project implementation and how much it cost as well as how SAP is the heart of the organisation and key steps to move SAP to the cloud.
Tim Dickson talked about key components of a manufacturing data lake as the foundation of a Data Driven organisation and also shared a IOT and Manufacturing Dashboard demo. Fabian Tan talked about the Connected Factory and IOT and Analytics can be used to help businesses can move away from reactive and planned maintenance approaches to data-driven methods of proactive and predictive maintenance.
